Cuisine: Charleston Food and Wine Festival

Calling all foodies…  Mark your calendars, book your flight, gas up the car and make some reservations – FAST!  The Charleston Food and Wine Festival (charlestonwineandfood.com) is March 1-4 and you don’t want to miss it.  With events like the Legends Craft Beer Party, Lowcountry Gospel Brunch, Locavore Luncheon, Soul Food Shuffle, Taco Turf Wars and the Champagne to Charcuterie, it will be sensory overload.  If you can’t make it this year, go ahead and get it on the calendar for next year!
And while you’re in Charleston, visit some of the fine cultural  offerings around you.  You will need to walk off some of that yummy food  and drink anyway!
Gibbes Museum of Art  - 135 Meeting Street  (www.gibbesmuseum.org) - Explore the visual culture of Charleston, the Low Country and the American South.   Old Exchange Building and Provost Dungeon -  122 East Bay Street (www.oldexchange.org)  - Early Charleston history during the Colonial and Revolutionary eras.     Old Slave Mart Museum - 6 Chalmers Street - Charleston’s role in both  the domestic and trans-Atlantic slave trade during the 18th and 19th  centuries.    The Aiken-Rhett House - 51 Meeting Street (www.historiccharleston.org)  - Intact mansion and outbuildings showcasing urban life in antebellum Charleston.   Confederate Museum - 188 Meeting Street (www.confederatemuseum.org) - Operated by the Daughters of the Confederacy and displays of flags, uniforms, swords and memorabilia.
